(PHILADELPHIA) – In response to an on-going problem with wireless transmission of credit card payments at Parking Authority kiosks, PPA Executive Director Vince Fenerty announced a resumption of regular enforcement for Monday, December 8, 2014 and advised motorists who use PPA kiosks that they will be required to pay for parking with either cash or a PPA Smart Card.
All kiosks will be clearly marked with ‘Cash or Smart Card Only’ stickers. There will be a ten minute grace period from the time a ticket is issued for customers to get cash to pay the kiosk. Any customer ticketed within the ten minute grace period should contact PPA customer service at sruiz@philapark.org or call the City’s Parking Violations Branch at 1-888-591-3636 and be prepared to provide a copy of the kiosk receipt.
“We want to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the failure of our kiosks to accept credit card payments. Be assured the PPA and the responsible vendors are working diligently to correct what appears to be a glitch in the data transmission process,” Fenerty said.
“We hope to have the problem resolved soon and will notify the public on the PPA’s website at www.philapark.org and via Facebook and Twitter when that occurs, but citizens who utilize kiosks will be required to pay with cash or a PPA Smart Card on Monday,” Fenerty said.
